Seminar Description:
In this course you will learn about the fundamental cost accounting principles imposed by the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 31 on commercial organizations, and will follow an example of how a DCAA compliant accounting system should be set up.

Workshop Description:
A two and a half day workshop to assist contractors in the actual set up of a DCAA compliant accounting system using QuickBooks. We strongly recommend attending the seminar,
Fundamentals of Federal Contract Cost Accounting, prior to attending this workshop. Attendees will leave with a DCAA compliant accounting system.
Workshop Fee:$1,500.00
This workshop applies the fundamentals of Federal Contract Cost Accounting to develop an accounting system using QuickBooks which will pass a DCAA Accounting System Review. Attendees should bring a laptop computer and a working copy of their QuickBooks file.
In this workshop you will set up your accounting system to be DCAA compliant under the guidance of
Robert C. Smith, CPA. You will:
- Organize the company chart of accounts to segregate direct costs from indirect costs, organize indirect costs into cost pools, and segregate unallowable costs.
- Set up the company's jobs in QuickBooks
- Set up payroll item to properly distribute labor to intermediate and final cost objectives
- Set up service items so that categories of billable direct labor can be tracked
- Set up ICAT so indirect rates can be calculated and indirect costs can be allocated to contracts
- Conduct user group discussions so attendees can share their experiences and ideas
